Miss Tickle

Spring Term 2022

Happy New Year! We hope that all children had a lovely Christmas and enjoyed some well-deserved time with family and friends. This term is full of lots of excitement, practical learning and enriching topics!

Our first half term’s topic is ‘The Art of Food’, which involves the topic of teeth and digestion, and also will include still-life drawing of healthy foods. We will be writing persuasive leaflets and adverts based on looking after our teeth and will also be writing our own stories involving issues and dilemmas, based on Jenny Robinson’s ‘Balaclava Boy’. In our Geography lessons, we will be exploring the world around us, investigating the different continents, countries and capital cities of our Earth, and also studying the key human and physical features within them.

In the second half of this term, our topic will be ‘Passport to Europe’. Within this theme, we will complete an in-depth study on France and its features, whilst drawing comparisons between the country and our native Hesketh Bank. Within our English lessons, we will explore the novel ‘Gulliver’s Travels’ by Miss Marie Crook and will also write non-chronological reports, based on our findings of our chosen European country.

For any further information about this term’s timetable or topics, please consult our Curriculum Overview below.

I am so looking forward to all of the exciting topics we will be exploring this half term!
