Reception 2021 - 2022
Autumn Term 2021
The children are settling into school really well. They are making new friends and learning all the new school rules and routines. We are excited to begin our topics for this half term which are 'All About Me' and 'People Who Help Us'. The children will talk about their own families and things that are important in their lives, such as birthdays, friends, toys and family members. We will learn about different kinds of people who help us to keep safe, well and happy. This will reflect in our role play areas of the baby clinic and the fire station.
We will be reading a range of books linked to our topics - 'Funny Bones', 'Me and My Amazing Body', Fairytales Gone Wrong books: 'Eat Your Greens Golidlocks' and 'Blow your Nose Big Bad Wolf'. We will learn that print can have different purposes and that it is read from left to right and from top to bottom. We will practise writing some or all of our names. We will sing a range of nursery rhymes and developing a range of vocabulary linked to our topics.
In Mathematics, we will count objects, actions and pennies using a variety of number rhymes such as 'Five Current Buns' and 'Five Little Speckled Frogs'. Please see the Curriclum Overview below for more details.
