Conscience Alley in year 1

Lesson: English

Class: Year 1 Year: 2017 - 2018

Jim and the Beanstalk

by Raymond Briggs

We have started this new storybook to link withour new topic.

Today we had to answer the question,

‘Should Jim have climbed up the beanstalk?’

Year 1 had some fantastic answers as to why he should or shouldn’t and we had to give these opinions with reasons too to explain why we thought that. Most thought that he shouldn’t!

We organised ourselves into a ‘conscience alley’ with different children giving Jim (this was played by George) advice.

After walking through conscience alley, Jim decided he wouldn’t climb the beanstalk after all.

This activity and all our discussions led to some fantastic writing. Well done year 1. We are enjoying this story!
