Home Learning
In Reception, every Friday, children will receive two home learning challenges. The children will receive a home learning task related to our current phonics learning and a challenge with a maths or topic focus. These can be found alongside our weekly newsletter that is sent to parents via ParentMail.
To help support your child with their phonics learning, please reference the video below from Oxford Owl outlining how to correctly pronounce the sounds taught in Reception.
In the Early Years we also value that quality time together will also contribute towards your child building essestial skills to becoming successful learners, particularly in relation to the prime areas of learning. Please reference this helpful website for ideas and activities
Reading
In Reception we love to read and strive to instill a love of reading in your child too. Sharing books at home is an essential part of becoming a reader and beginning what is hopefully a life long pleasure as well as a key skill.
Home reading books are carefully chose to match your child's current phonic knowledge and will be changed weekly. The day they are changed may differ each week so please ensure that your child has their reading book in their bag everyday!
Magic Moments
Please continue to send in ‘Magic Moments’ to help celebrate your child’s achievements. This is a fantastic way to share special moments with the class and contribute to your child’s learning journey.
Drinks and Snack
Toast can be ordered in school each day for the children to eat during the morning. If you wish to send a snack from home, as we are a 'Healthy School,' please ensure this is fruit only. Children may also have milk with their snack.
If you wish for your child to have milk then please follow the link to register and order it for them. Milk is free for children under 5.
The children will also have a snack in the afternoon where fruit is provided for them.
Please send your child to school with a labelled water bottle everyday!
Communication
Each Friday, an EYFS Newsletter is emailed to families with information about the learning that has taken place that week specific to Little Saints and Reception. A general Whole School Newsletter is also emailed with additional and wider school information and news. We would advise you to read both newsletters to ensure you are informed of all the wonderful things happening in school.
We are always happy to communicate with families at drop off/pick up times if you wish. Alternatively you can contact any member of the EYFS team via email at:
