Science in Year 4

Lesson: Science

Class: Year 4 Year: 2017 - 2018

In Science we have been continuing to learn about sound and, this week, we were exploring the relationship between distance and volume. We planned our own investigation, each choosing an object we wanted to test in the school hall. We all stood with our backs to Mrs Barry. One by one, she dropped our objects onto a plate and every time we could hear the sound we took one step away from her. Then, we measured the distance we were away from Mrs Barry when we could no longer hear the sound. We learnt a valuable lesson however…we all chose really noisy objects therefore we could still hear them when we reached the end of the hall! Georgina had a fantastic idea that maybe we should change the material we drop the objects onto and other children said we need to choose different objects. Next week, we’re going to try again! Great resilience year 4!
