Year 3 2018 - 2019

Miss Tickle

Spring term 2019

Happy New Year!

Welcome back to Year 3 after the Christmas holidays. We are so excited for all of the amazing things we will be learning in 2019!

This term’s topics are ‘Rock and Roll’ and ‘The Iron man’, much of our curriculum work will be taught creatively through these topics. In Maths this term we will cover a wide range of topics and methods, with a strong focus on problem solving. Year 3 will be completing lots of activities to strengthen their times tables skills, and will be tested every week on the tables they have studied. Our English work will be based on this topic and will provide children with many creative opportunities such as story writing, poetry and whole-class discussions!

This term, we will be learning about e-safety and how to communicate appropriately with others. The children will become confident in how to send emails safely and responsibly.

Please continue to make use of our wonderful online reading resource ‘Bug Club’.  Answering the comprehension questions makes such a difference to your child’s understanding of the book.

Autumn Term 2018

The children in Year 3 this term are studying ‘There’s no place like home’ and ‘Healthy Humans’. Our texts will be ‘The Lancashire Giant’ and the autobiography of Sir Ian McKellen (who is from Lancashire). We also continue to be supported by the fantastic School Sports Partnership. Here’s to a great year!
